Don Maloney of the Arizona Coyotes announced today that the team was sending center Tyler Gaudet back to AHL Springfield and recalling forward Dustin Jeffrey and defenseman Philip Samuelsson to the NHL roster.

Dustin Jeffrey has registered 5-7-12 and two penalty minutes (PIM) in 10 games with Springfield this year and was just named CCM/AHL Player of the Week.

Philip Samuelsson has recorded 0-4-4 and two PIM in 10 games in Springfield. It is assumed he is being recalled to help fill in for the injured Nicklas Grossmann whom the Coyotes moved to injured reserve today.

Tyler Gaudet had one assist in five games for Arizona and while that doesn’t sound like much, I felt he provided a nice presence and great hustle in a bottom six role. He particularly shiend in the game against Vancouver on October 30th. I’m kind of surprised he is heading back down, but that likely means Antoine Vermette may be ready to go Monday or Tuesday.
